Happy Palm Sunday everyone!! I used to love thinking about how fun it would have been to be there when Jesus rode into town on the donkey and I could have grabbed a palm branch and waved it at Him. That means we are 1 week from Easter awesome! And on with the show…
1. I started out my week very rough. I have been dealing with Carpel Tunnel since I first got my own computer back in 2000. I guess you could say it began my on going issue. I am a writer so I knew it was something you get from being a writer. I write by hand, I type and now I have an ipod, phone and I play guitar. All little things that can cause carpel tunnel. Well last week on Monday I had the worst flare up of this that I have had in I think ever. My right hand was in so much pain I was crying. I couldn’t move it. And nothing helped me. I put heat on it, ice, I wrapped it then I didn’t wrap it. It was so bad it took me a good hour that night before I had to work the first time to go to sleep as I couldn’t get it comfortable. Everything hurt on Tuesday too. But slowly this week by the grace of God I have been feeling better. Mind you it still hurts badly but not like that. I have been keeping it wrapped up as much as I can. And I got some Epsom salt on Wednesday and as of Friday been soaking it night for 3 min. It helps a little. It doesn’t magically go away but it helps. Btw if you have never used Epsom salt it is a trip in the pants. My hand starts to move weird in the water (I guess from the salt?) and feels SO weird after. People use this stuff for all kinds of stuff not even all medical… So yeah carpel tunnel sucks!
2. I planted more sunflower seeds few weeks ago. So far nothing has sprung up. Sadly I did it so close to April it was almost 2 months after I did it last year. Last year I did it in February the last month according to the package you are supposed to for our area. Well nothing has popped up yet. Still I faithfully water it daily and hope at least a few of the seeds will come out. We’ve been having an odd mix of weather this week. Few times it was in the 80’s meaning Mon-Thur. And then after that cooler in the 70’s. At night I don’t sleep with the covers about half the time. And almost daily I put my fan on at some point. So Spring is here for real. Its dry this week. No rain and nothing in sight at least for the next week or so… we still need rain mind you. Our drought is still horribly there.
3. My workouts this week have been slim pickings. On Thursday I was exhausted and ended up only doing a 20 minute walk and small bike ride inside I mean for 10 min. I didn’t do anything on Tuesday. Come yesterday I did an actual 30 min run/walk and bike again. I have yet to do more than this even if I started doing these few weeks ago right after our race I was trying to keep up but run out of time. And figure a walk/run alone is better than nothing at all. I did walk around a lot on Tuesday and Wednesday from work. I walked to work on Tuesday from a store about 15 min and then 30 min to the sprinter. And Wednesday I walked 30 min to Sprinter and then I walked after I got off across a lot and stuff which was about 15 min more. I figure each day I did 45 min so really I have been working out just not like I usually do… Its cool. Hope to keep up this week more workouts.
4. The 10th marked 5 years since the tornado in TN. Every year since we moved so that would be 2011 on to here I feel weird thinking about a place so far away from me. But so close to my heart. 5 years since I freaked out because it was so last minute. I just had to turn off the radio to sleep and thought I would hear anything on the regular radio. If I hadn’t turned it on. And then the sirens. I mean of course it didn’t hit our place but as close as it got. Scary stuff. Me and my sister and 5 animals all in a bathroom. A small hot bathroom. Watching the lights flicker hearing noses, seeing the hail the size of a quarter and wondering what our neighbors watching outside. Not knowing if we had looked just the right time out or back door we would have seen it. On looking up articles on that day this week I found out they said it was 3 tornados not 2. I cant believe I only found this out today. Wow. I remember when it crossed the I-24 and they caught it on the news. That is a rare thing to catch it but the guy who caught it lived in Murfreesboro worked the cameras and decided to try to find the tornado and he did. I will never forget our Good Friday tornado!
5. Well I left this for last. I began my new job this week!! Yeah. Tuesday was there from 2:00-4:45 (not 2-4 as we thought). We did paperwork, watched some videos and took a store tour. By we I mean 3 others from the 4 besides me interviewed the week before got hired on. I love this store. I don’t care how huge it is or the fact I have never worked a store this large before. My sister worked at Walmart before that was the biggest for her. But me? Never! I think some of my other jobs including B&N and Lego could sit side by side in here and have space to spare. But I love it! Wednesday I had as shift sorta. 2 hours on computer 2 hours on register. I shadowed a girl and then they just put me on reg. And I think I did okay. I did some go backs. Then I was off. My first real shift is next weekend unless I get called in. I also got to try out The Sprinter for the first time (as mentioned above). Compared to The Light Rail in AZ it only comes every 30 min, the LR was like every 10 min or less, its $2 for one way (I think LR was about $1.75). A round trip for it and buses is $5 in AZ it was $3.50. Plus its not that fast. But its fun. And it kept me from having to stay in the area for several hours after off work while waiting for my sister to come (plus saved her gas coming back for me!). My mom got me both Tue & Wed. I might do it again on Sun next week. I mean $2 isnt bad if I have the money for it. If I don’t theres always waiting around at one of the stores. Walmart for example is open 24/7. Yeah I love my new job!!
No guitar since Monday last week. I am going to give it a shot now tonight for a few min. My hand has been too sore. I tried Monday and almost died. I have no idea why I decided to try to torture myself. And I think it needs to be tuned again sadly…I hate not doing it but carpel tunnel is no fun I swear! Well till next week have a great one everyone. And a nice Easter Weekend (if you celebrate).
