Welcome to May everyone!! And look its Star Wars Day! May the 4th Be With You!! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
1. It is finally cooling off but what a week for HEAT for us. They warned us but it wasn’t enough. Yup. Monday was warm but the biggest heat came in Tuesday-Friday while Saturday was also warm today is back to 70’s. Our next heat will be next weekend although not as hot. It hit 95 or so Tue, Wed and Thur. Fri was cooler but not by much. And yesterday (see below) managed to be in the desert so it was 102* in Palm Springs. So I am hoping that early heat like this (plus we had a small heat spell during the Winter) isn’t a sign of a hot Summer which we haven’t had since 2012. Ick. I prefer 80’s or so even in Summer. Our house heats up fast. I wont be home every day but when I am its really hard to sleep when its super hot out like it was. But its all good.
2. While I managed not a single workout this week (which is good as my dogs shots need updating) I did a lot more than usual amount of time outside doing stuff. On Monday we went up to Torrey Pines and walked/hiked down to the beach and back. A hike of about 20-30min each way. I was feeling that pain for days after. It was kind of warm and very crowded. Then on Wednesday we went the beach in the evening. We put our feet in the water and walked on the beach. Then got frozen yogurt after. It was so warm in the house we didn’t want to just be home and was glad for this. So that was fun!
3. I worked just twice this week. I was open to working other days but did not get called for shifts I could work. I like working. But during the week it is slow. So I was less on reg and more on floor. However I like learning more stuff. The more I learn the more I know I belong and find my place. So I love my job. Walking to the Sprinter on those hot days was not fun especially Thursday I thought I was going to die. I was just glad to be sitting down after walking all that way in the heat.
4. It’s been 4 years this past week since the flood in Nashville May 1-2. I will never forget it and how it affected how everything we lived and loved was affected. Worse places like the Opry Mills Mall and Grand Ole Opry were affected badly. The mall did not open back up for 2 years. It makes me sad thinking about it. The news might not have covered it but we knew exactly what was happening. I will always remember our flood even if I don’t live there anymore. Nashville is always on my heart forever.
5. Yesterday in the heat of the day I promise the heat of the day we went down to Indian Wells by Palm Springs and went to this Desert Jazz thing. I’ve liked smooth jazz off and on since we lived in orange county ages ago. I used to use it do homework and enjoyed it since then. I love saxophone its my favorite some piano maybe but sax is my favorite. So Dave Koz was there and some other people too. The heat sucked as we had to stand in the shade half the day. The food was way too costly and most of the drinks were alcoholic was not interested in it. So we was hot and hungry but still had a fun time. Even got to meet the artist after for autographs. It took about 2 hours to get there and 2 hours back. So it was far away but still so much fun. Never thought would get to go to one of those. Over the years in different states we have gone to local free jazz festivals so nothing like this way different. Thanks to my sister for taking us and buying the tickets!
Well that’s it for today. Enjoying my day off but hoping for an extra shift or two this week plus the two I work. Not gonna be as hot. Next weekend will be busy with work, mother’s day and doing this ice skating thing. So that will be fun. More about that next Sunday. Till then have a great week everyone!!
