Welcome to MAY!! April is gone and now are in May the 5th month of the year. Crazy how close it is to Summer, end of school, and so much more. This month promises many fun things for me well I hope so. But some for sure. How was your week?
1. May 1st and 2nd has been 9 years since The Great Nashville Flood. To this day not a lot of people know about this flood. I recall few years ago I did this for a speech for class and talked in detail about the flood and how much got affected. I was talking to people in California that did not experience this flood that changed so many lives. It closed the Mall we loved for 2 years. Opry Mills re opened in 2012 but changed so much and many stores we loved never came back. That included The Apple Barn, The Aquarium Sting Rays never returned, and Barnes & Noble among those I recall. I almost lived at that mall when we lived out there. My sister worked there for 2 years plus. So I was there a few times a week while she worked. Hours slow at Borders I would spend time there. Then the floods came and flooded so much. It broke my heart when it hit the mall. It killed all their big sting rays the babies would go on to survive. Still sad thinking about it. And what timing. Just a week before our trip to California for my cousins wedding this took place. Tornados while bad we were used to. Not floods like a hurricane inland like that. I still love you Nashville TN!!!!
2. May 4th (I believe) marks 15 years since I graduated from Vanguard University. I don't admit to a lot of people I have a college degree. Maybe its shame. I am ashamed I have a degree I have done nothing with. All I have instead is $40,000 in student loan debit I can probably never pay off and will have to find ways to put off till I die. (My largest would be $300 plus a month FOR ONE BILL! IMAGINE!). I loved that school my degree and all I do not regret getting a degree. But wish I had done a minor degree too and actually had something to fall back on. I also wish I had tried harder while in college to get experience I needed for something anything. So its like a catch 22 there. I miss school but I was younger a different time and a different location. I am different now. Sure I am still trying to get into tv or radio but its different now. Way different... side note: my sister gradated days after me from Bible College so she to celebrated 15 years this year. Crazy!
3. School this week. Last minute I got a shadow for my show at 12. It threw me off. I do my live post from 12 to 1 so that was thrown off to begin 1 to 2. I was not prepared but I know he had to do it so I let him. I told him what I could and hoped he could write his paper well for class. I thankfully got the guy who wanted to take over my hour to agree to do it after my show at 3 unsure what day. Either way I am not gonna have to lose time for my show. I have only 3 left. My show went well and not bad and I had a good time. I am still believe it or not debating if I will be doing this for the Summer. I have to decide SOON so there is that... Gym before was short but fun time. I love going to the gym. I hope to be going more often now that my hours change at work soon. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!
4. Work is work. Yup. I did get my schedule finally changed. I will be working mornings twice a week finally! I am hopeful with 3 new people she might give me more mornings. I would take them for any day but Sundays. I HAVE to go to church that is a MUST for me. Sorry it is there is not if or whats about it. So there you go. I was off yesterday (Saturday) for the bird thing. I had a nice day off. It was nice. Then back to it next two days. Yup yup.
5. Bird thing happen yesterday had fun. Saw wood ducks, owl, and a few other birds. Then came home to cook, nap, and do stuff. Still the day was short and I lost time we got home late so got less done. My only Saturday off for a while I had to enjoy it while I could. Hope I get next month off too I will try so hard!
